Sharon’s artistic journey is deeply influenced by her diverse experiences. Having lived on a remote island in Papua New Guinea from 1969 to the 1990s, she later settled in Queensland, where she now divides her time between Brisbane and the scenic Esk Shire. With over a decade of experience running an art supply shop at the Brisbane Institute of Art and managing an artist’s retreat, Sharon has built a strong foundation in the arts. She has further honed her skills with a Certificate of Fine Arts and a Diploma of Visual Arts.

Her upcoming exhibition at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery will feature a collection of environmental storytelling artworks. Sharon uses vibrant colours, scenery, and toys to explore the symbiotic relationship between nature, humans, and the environment. Through her work, she invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of all living things and the urgent question of how we will respond to the challenges posed by catastrophic conditions.

The overarching question posed by her exhibition is: "When will we accept that there is a symbiotic relationship between nature, humans, and the environment, and that we are all the same when threatened by catastrophic conditions?" This powerful theme challenges us to consider our role in the environment and the consequences of ignoring its fragility.

In addition to Sharon’s exhibition, the gallery also extends a warm thank you to the 22 artists who participated in the ‘Paint Like a Master’ Artist of the Month exhibition during February and March. This exhibition was a resounding success, attracting many visitors and leading to several artworks being sold. The Foggy Fridays events, held in February and March, also received positive feedback, featuring presentations from ten of the participating artists.

The Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery invites all art lovers to support Sharon Lee and explore her thought-provoking artwork throughout April.
