Big birthday bash for Yowie Park Run
DESPITE the humidity, close to 80 runners, joggers and walkers hit the pavement at Kilcoy for the Yowie Park Run’s fourth birthday on Saturday February 4.
Digging out their brightest socks and fluffiest tutus for the occasion, participants conquered the 5 km route in true celebratory style.
Yowie Park Run Director Esther Graves said park run is not only a good way to get active outdoors and maintain your mental and physical health, but also a great way to connect with the community and make new friends.
Park run started in 2004 in Bushy Park, UK and now takes place in over 20 countries every Saturday morning.
Esther said they are held across a variety of different locations and terrains, from national parks to private properties.
“It’s simply a great way to get to know your community,” Esther said.
Kyle Willmott from Nambour celebrated his 200th park run with a win, completing the 5 km circuit in 18 minutes and 53 seconds.
He was closely followed by Johanna Wilson who achieved a time of 19:13 and Trevor Davis with 20:35.
