Hosted by Deception Bay Doctors, the ‘Violets Not Violence’ Art Exhibition and Family Fun Day will raise vital funds for Centacare’s Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA)—a cause close to the hearts of many in the community.

This year marks the third time the event has been held since 2017, with the last event in 2019 raising approximately $5,000 for CADA, demonstrating the community’s strong support and compassion.

Organisers are excited to welcome the community back for this important initiative. The event will feature an inspiring art exhibition by local GP and artist Dr Subrat Mishra, whose work addresses the journey from trauma to recovery; an art competition featuring students from local schools focused on the theme of domestic violence awareness; raffles, a lucky draw, and a sausage sizzle; and family-friendly activities and opportunities for community connection.

“Domestic violence continues to be one of the most urgent social issues in our community,” said Dr Mishra. “Through art and action, we want to promote awareness, healing, and practical support for victims.”

Event Details:
When: Sunday, 1 June 2025 from 10am
Where: Deception Bay Doctors, 25 Zammit Street, Deception Bay
Cost: $5 per person (children under 10 free)
Who it supports: All proceeds go to Centacare’s Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA)
