Caboolture carols washed out
MORETON Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) made the decision to cancel the Caboolture Christmas Carols at 3pm on Sunday November 27 following sudden heavy rainfall that hit Caboolture in the afternoon.
The event, which was scheduled to kick off at 4pm at Centenary Lakes, included an afternoon of performances from local artists and community groups, food trucks, market stalls, kids’ workshops and a special entrance from Santa, who was going to skydive into the event.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the cancellation was devastating for the people of Caboolture and the organisers who worked so hard to put on a great show.
“Unfortunately, we’ve become accustomed to cancelled events over the past couple of years but the good news is that there’s still an opportunity to see the carols this year with three more events planned at North Lakes, Redcliffe and Pine Rivers,” he said.
“This is part of our new community events calendar that will deliver over 40 free events in partnership with MBRIT for locals to enjoy in every pocket of Moreton Bay, so you never have to leave for great entertainment.
“We hope to see you at the next free event somewhere near you.”
