Palmwoods finished with 115 runs for the loss of six wickets in 40 overs, before Caboolture passed the target in just the 19th over of the run chase.

After the visitors wobbled at 2/23, a third wicket partnership of 72 unfolded but the run rate was restricted.

Although the hosts delivered 23 wides and one no-ball, the bowling was generally disciplined as four of Caboolture’s six bowlers conceded fewer than three runs per over.

Mitchell Smith and Nicholas Beikoff claimed two wickets each while Matthew Ross and Raymond Maller claimed one apiece.

Coolum too strong in Division 2

Caboolture was no match for host team Coolum in Division 2 action at Ron Cargill Oval.

The hosts chalked up a total of 8/185 in 38 overs before dismissing the visitors for just 79 in 34.2 overs.

Opening batter Lincoln Parsons top-scored for Coolum with 64 while Mathew Nenadic (31), Jakota Dale-Westbrook (26) and Andrew Irvine (22) also made sufficient contributions.

Dale-Westbrook (5/10 from eight overs), Parsons (2/11 from 3.2 overs) and Ben Gordon (2/12 from eight overs) did the damage during Caboolture’s run chase.
