Caboolture fire, youth charged

At about 3pm on August 31, a fire occurred in the ground floor concrete bin storage room of a unit block on Elliott Street, Caboolture.

CCTV captured a male person enter the bin storage area, leave after a short time, and the fire commencing shortly thereafter.

The area where the fire occurred suffered considerable damage, causing power to be lost to the unit complex.

Police located a 17-year-old-boy from Caboolture who they will allege was wearing clothing matching the person in the CCTV footage.

Police will further allege that they located drugs and utensils after conducting a search of the boy’s residence.

He was arrested and charged with endangering property by fire, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug utensils and is due to appear in Caboolture Childrens Court.
