Caboolture hits season for six

With the junior cricket season starting this weekend, Caboolture Sports Cricket Club President Ben Stewart is looking forward to a year focused on growth, development, and inclusivity.

Now in his third season as president, Ben is optimistic about the future for both junior and senior players.

“Our main goal with the juniors is to get as many boys and girls playing cricket as possible and enjoying it, so they come back,” he said.

The club has more than 100 junior members, including participants in the Blasters program, and a strong, thriving community. One ongoing challenge has been keeping young players engaged as they move through age groups.

“It’s always a struggle. So we’ve made it a really big focus of ours that we get more juniors into playing seniors,” Ben explained.

Caboolture Sports Cricket Club also boasts first-class facilities, including an indoor center, allowing training in all weather conditions — a feature not many clubs have.

Ben highlighted the blending of junior and senior teams and the club’s progress in women’s cricket. “We have a few junior women playing in our women’s side this year, which is exciting. That’s a hard area to keep growing, so we’ve made a conscious effort to make that happen.”

The new season kicks off on Saturday, October 4, for juniors and seniors, with the women’s team starting in a few weeks, competing every fortnight.

With strong community spirit, top-notch facilities, and a focus on player development at all stages, Caboolture Sports Cricket Club is set for another successful season.
