Caboolture ready to host Show, Shine and Swap meet
CAR enthusiasts from around Queensland and New South Wales will flock to the Caboolture Showgrounds on Saturday (June 25) for the Caboolture Regional Car Club’s annual Show, Shine and Swap meet.
The event has been running for 25 years, with the 2020 event cancelled due to Covid before the event resumed last year as Covid regulations were followed.
Event spokesperson and Caboolture Regional Car Club president Lance Suthers said attendees could look forward to meeting other car enthusiasts, and sharing their stories and reminiscing about the car they previously had or that their parents previously owned.
“All people that share their passion in motor vehicles can come together and display their pride and joy,” Lance said.
“The Swap caters for those that want to pick up a bargain and find that elusive part they have been looking for.”
Lance said the Show and Shine would have all makes and models on display, with judging in all categories starting at noon while there would be trophies and prizes up for grabs.
“For the bargain hunters, swap meet stalls are very popular to both young and old,” Lance said.
There will be a variety of vendors at the event, as well as face-painting for children.
Event categories include Best Sedan, Best Wagon, Best Van, Best Ute, Best Bike, Best Australian, Best European, Best Japanese, Best American, Best Original, Best Restored, Holden of the Show, Ford of the Show, President’s Choice, and Best of the Show.
Lance said the Show had humble beginnings at Grant Road Sports and Community Complex in the late 1990s, and then moved to the AFL grounds at Old Gympie Road before moving to the Caboolture Showgrounds in the late 2000s.
Public entry is $5 per person, with children under 15 admitted for free.
Gates open to the public at 5am on Saturday, and proceedings are expected to run from 6am to 1pm.
Gates open for stall holders and overnight swappers at 3pm on Friday, at a cost of $30 (non power per site) or $40 (power per site).
Swappers arriving on Saturday can come at 5am, with a cost of $10 per site including driver entry.
Anyone interested in having a swap site is asked to contact Debbie on 0448 434 724.
