ON Sunday 29 June, the Toogoolawah Bridge Club hosted another of its popular Invitational Days, this time welcoming members from the Gympie Bridge Club.

The Toogoolawah Bridge Club, formed eight years ago, meets every Tuesday at 1:30pm and Sunday at 2:30pm at the Toogoolawah Hotel. The club welcomes visitors and encourages new players to join.

Invitational Days have seen members from various clubs attend over the years, providing a welcome economic boost to local Brisbane Valley businesses. Guests can enjoy more than just a game of Bridge — the region offers cycling and walking along the Rail Trail, art exhibitions at the Condensery, picnics by Somerset Dam, and tours of the historic homes in Toogoolawah and Esk.

This event saw 23 members from the Gympie Bridge Club and 17 from the Toowong and Toogoolawah clubs gather for a marvellous lunch at the Toogoolawah Hotel. The afternoon was filled with a competitive yet friendly session of Bridge.

To wrap up the day, everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, where they had the chance to socialise and reflect on the day's bidding and play.

Thanks to the Toowong Bridge Club, which auspices the Toogoolawah Club, players were awarded Green points for their participation — meaning their results were recognised by the Australian Bridge Federation.

Following this successful event, the club is now looking forward to its 'Christmas in July' celebration on 29 July, which will feature a traditional roast lunch and plum pudding.

All visitors and prospective players are most welcome at the Toogoolawah Bridge Club — just come along!
