Cooper then combined with Duane Hamment for a 109-run partnership, with Cooper hitting 12 fours and seven sixes in his 118 while Hamment registered eight fours in his 42.

The visiting team slipped from 1/224 to 4/225 as William Bristow took three quick wickets, before an unbeaten 28 from Lachlan Wright boosted the total.

Coolum was in early trouble in the run chase and never looked like recovering.

Tony Runge took two wickets from successive deliveries to make the score 2/5, before a wicket to Jacob MacGregor in the fifth over made the score 3/15.

Opening batter Daine Smith struck six fours in his 31 before his dismissal was quickly followed by Chandler Sweetman’s demise, to leave Coolum’s innings in tatters at 6/50.

Runge snared five of the first six wickets, before the lower order showed some resistance as partnerships of 30, 19 and 16 unfolded.

The match ended with the fall of the ninth wicket, as Coolum was a batter short.

Cooper completed a fine personal performance as he captured the final wicket when Dan Gibson held his third catch of the day.

Cooper nabbed 1/5 from his 2.2 overs, while Runge finished with 5/45 from eight overs.

McGregor (1/20 from eight overs) and Reece Clark (2/16 from five overs) also had fine figures while Dan Wallace and Tim Marchisio were economical without taking a wicket.

In round two this Saturday, Wamuran-Stanley River will host a Yandina team which is also coming off a resounding first-up win.
