Charity support for vulnerable Queenslanders this Christmas

The Crisafulli Government has donated $400,000 to assist charitable organisations in supporting vulnerable Queenslanders during the festive season.

The Crisafulli Government has donated $400,000 to assist charitable organisations in supporting vulnerable Queenslanders during the festive season.

Four key charities – The Smith Family, The Salvation Army, UnitingCare Community, and St Vincent de Paul Society – will each receive $100,000 to support their respective Christmas appeals. The funding will aid critical initiatives, including hampers for struggling families, gifts for children, and accommodation for those without a safe place to stay.

Premier David Crisafulli expressed hope that these donations would provide some relief to those in need.

“Queenslanders, especially the most vulnerable, have been severely impacted by the cost-of-living crisis,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“Christmas is a time to give back, and we want to ensure families have a roof over their heads, food on the table, and hope for the future during this holiday season.”

The Premier also acknowledged the dedication of charity staff and volunteers.

“We continue to support these hardworking charities in delivering the vital help needed and thank everyone giving their time and effort to care for others this Christmas.”

The donation reflects the government's commitment to helping Queenslanders in need during the holiday period.
