Doctor art in the house
THE Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery is celebrating the arrival of its new Artist of the Month (AOM), spotlighting the creative talents of Kilcoy Art Society Vice President, Dr Dawn Evans.
The gallery farewelled August’s Artist of the Month, Ann Caporn, whose striking collection of paintings drew strong visitor interest throughout the month.
Now, attention turns to Dr Evans, a versatile artist whose passion for creativity has been lifelong.
After developing her skills in the United Kingdom and later exploring lapidary, faceting, and silversmithing, Dr Evans has since retired from medical practice and dedicated herself to fine art. Her work spans oils, acrylics, charcoal, watercolour, graphite, silverpoint, and photography.
In recent years, she has honed a distinctive style—transforming natural landscapes into whimsical, sometimes humorous works that blend fantasy with honesty. Her latest pieces reflect both the depths of the environment and playful twists that invite closer inspection.
Visitors to the gallery this September will also see a new dimension to her practice: a selection of works informed by artificial intelligence (AI), with Dr Evans embracing technology as a fresh source of artistic inspiration.
The Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery invites the community to experience Dr Evans’ exhibition throughout September. The feature wall display promises to surprise and delight, offering an imaginative take on the natural world.
The Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery, located in Yowie Park, is open from 9am to 1pm, Thursday to Monday.
