This morning event combines hearty food with live performances from poets and musicians, creating a celebration of country storytelling, music, and laughter.

Festival organiser Eric Whitehouse said the breakfast highlights why country music and poetry are celebrated: “It’s about telling stories. There’s something really moving about starting the day with the voices of our poets and musicians.”

Performers include bush poets Mick Martin and Mal Beveridge. Martin, from country Victoria, has a long history with the Australian Bush Poets Association and is the author of Mates at the Gate. Beveridge is known for his quick wit, comedic timing, and national poetry awards, including the 2017 Looming Legend title.

Musical performances feature Colt Thomas Jr, whose acoustic blend of country, blues, and pop provides a relaxed soundtrack for breakfast. Andrew and Amy Ryan will also perform, sharing original songs that grew from family collaborations, with Amy already an accomplished young artist who graduated from the Country Music Academy at age 11.

This morning program promises a warm, entertaining start to the Urban Country Music Festival. Tickets are on sale now at urbancountrymusicfestival.com.au.
