THE Moodlu and District Men’s Shed is keen to attract new members and further community input as the organisation prepares to have a new building for its home base in the near future.

A donation from Pike Property has resulted in a second-hand shed being planned for installation next to the current shed, at Quarry Road.

Around five or six years since its doors first opened, the Moodlu-based men’s shed has about 20 members.

With most of the members being full-time workers, they meet between 8am and noon each Sunday while the focus is about looking after and advancing their well-being and mental health.

Activities include repairing and building race mowers, organising working bees, and visiting other Men’s Sheds.

This Friday, the members will visit the Caloundra-based Queensland Air Museum.

Moodlu and District Men’s Shed president Jamie Bailey said new members, donations and community support were always welcome while the members were willing to do tasks like mowing lawns and tidying gardens to raise funds.

With a metal lathe already in place, Jamie said there were plans to obtain more equipment for metalwork and woodwork.

“If someone wants to do arts and crafts, or leather work or duffle bags, we’re happy to support this and for it to become part of the men’s shed,” he said.

“The sky is the limit.”

Jamie said the members supported each other during tough times, particularly after one of its members, Trevor Jones, unexpectedly passed away recently.

Jamie expressed thanks to Pantex Roofing Systems (Narangba) for donating the roof guttering system to the shed to catch rainwater to fill the tank, as there has been no running water to the shed.

Anyone interested in contacting the Moodlu and District Men’s Shed is welcome to visit the social media page or website, or visit on a Sunday morning.
