Farmers Big Night Out attracts big crowd
AROUND 140 farmers attended the recent Farmers Big Night Out at Somerset Civic Centre.
Hosted by Somerset Regional Council, the purpose of the event was to provide farmers with an opportunity to socialise while also having access to information and speakers talking about topical industry issues.
Ross Blanch, dairy farmer and Lifeline Farmer to Farmer, spoke about his journey to becoming a volunteer counsellor and shared the important message that mental health is everyones business. Shane Webcke, former footballer and farm safety advocate, spoke about remembering to stay safe.
Dinner was prepared by Brisbane Valley Farm Direct with entertainment by duo Ally and Sarah.
The Farmers Big Night out was funded through Community Drought funding from the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts.
