The ban takes effect from midnight on Thursday, October 2, covering Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich, Logan, Scenic Rim, Brisbane, Noosa, Moreton Bay, Redland, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast.

Current conditions are highly conducive to bushfires igniting and spreading quickly.

During the local fire ban, all open fires are prohibited, and all previously issued Permits to Light Fire in the designated area are suspended.

Power tools may be used, but QFD urges residents to operate them with extreme care and to have adequate firefighting equipment on hand, including someone to monitor for any accidental ignitions.

The ban is expected to remain in place until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, October 7.
