Free painting and sausage sizzle in Caboolture this Friday
The recently formed Craft Space Caboolture will host a free ‘paint and sausage sizzle’ at its studio premises from 11am to 3pm this Friday.
Free paint classes will start at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm while it will be first-in, best-dressed.
A number of locals have been involved at the freeform art studio since its opening on June 21, as the art space is designed for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants who would like to get their creative juices flowing.
With Peter Jones and Liz Orsborn as the owners while art teaching staff include Angela Sawyer, Jacinta Seibuhr and Telysha Audibert, the art space provides plenty of options.
Water colours, canvas painting, acrylic painting, garden art, clay, jewellery, mosaics, macrame, drawing, decoupage, tie dying, mandalas, charcoal, card making, woodworking and scrapbooking are among the options, with the staff saying all types of art could be catered for.
Two-hour sessions start at 9am and noon on weekdays, and Wednesdays also have a 3pmsession for children who wish to attend after school.
Angela said the staff sought to create a friendly, relaxed and safe environment as there was also a balcony outside while the studio overlooked a lake.
Angela said people were free to have a chat and to enjoy a bite to eat from the café on the premises, in addition to undertaking artwork.
“There’s no structured classes, and you get to be creative, express yourself and have people to talk to and help you get on with it,” she said.
Jacinta said art therapy could help reduce stress and anxiety while the environment helped participants be “motivated to express themselves, and have fun while doing it”.
Telysha said the staff were always prepared to provide assistance and direction, while there were never any set rules or expectations as to how artwork should be done.
Craft Space Caboolture is located at 9E/8-22 King Street, Caboolture.
