Game on as sporting grants are up for grabs
YOUNG athletes chasing their sporting dreams could score up to $750 in funding through the Australian Sports Commission’s Local Sporting Champions (LSC) grants program, now open for applications until 31 October 2025.

If you’re aged between 12 and 18 and competing at a state, national or international championship, you may be eligible for a grant between $500 and $750 to help cover costs such as travel, accommodation, uniforms, coaching, and competition fees.
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families while encouraging young people to stay active and engaged in sport.
Successful applicants will receive financial support to represent their region or country — helping them focus on performance, not expenses.
Applications for Round 2 of the 2025–26 program must be submitted through the SmartyGrants online portal, where users can complete, save, and review their forms before submitting. Once lodged, applications cannot be edited, and confirmation emails are automatically sent to applicants.
The Local Sporting Champions program has helped thousands of emerging athletes across Australia reach their goals — from track and field stars to swimmers, gymnasts, and team sport competitors.
Aspiring athletes are encouraged not to miss out on this opportunity to back their sporting journey.
