Up to 6,133 unemployed and underemployed Queenslanders will receive life-changing training through the latest round of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative, backed by nearly $50 million in funding. This funding boost marks a record increase of nearly $5 million from the previous round, reflecting a growing commitment to improving work skills across the community.

By mid-2025, the initiative is set to reach over 100,000 Queenslanders, providing disadvantaged job seekers with the skills, qualifications, and experience needed to secure employment or remain in the workforce. Job seekers will access accredited training in industries like construction, hospitality, and community services, with wrap-around support including mentoring, employability skills, and transport assistance.

Organisations such as Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc, Goondiwindi Silo Inc, and Cowboys Charity Limited will receive grants to assist local job seekers, offering industry-specific training and work experience opportunities.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates highlighted the program's impact, noting that over 62,300 Queenslanders have secured employment through Skilling Queenslanders for Work, with a strong focus on young job seekers aged 15 to 24.
