Holiday fun gets $1.8m boost
Moreton Bay children can enjoy a variety of new and upgraded play spaces this school holidays, with over $1.8 million invested in community facilities across Griffin, Morayfield, Burpengary, and Bellara.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the new playgrounds and parks provide quality spaces for families to spend time together close to home. “Going to the local playground or park is a free and fun school holiday activity that children can enjoy for hours,” he said.
Key new and upgraded parks include:
Crowe Road Park, Morayfield: A $440,000 playground designed for young children through to school age, featuring multiple climbing elements, a basket swing, junior and senior swings, large tunnel slide, rock climbing wall, inclusive carousel, imaginative play elements, and shade sail. The park also includes a yarning circle and picnic shelter.
Station Road, Burpengary: A $470,000 play space adjoining the Burpengary Sports Complex skatepark, featuring a new basketball court, rebound wall with an art mural, new skate elements, and a climbing playground structure.
Pirate Park, Bellara: Recent $340,000 upgrades include BBQ and picnic facilities, landscaped open space for children to play, a new drinking fountain with dog bowl, and new bike racks. The improvements make the foreshore and playground more inviting for families, vendors, and community gatherings.
These upgrades ensure families have accessible, safe, and engaging outdoor spaces to enjoy during the spring school holidays and beyond.
