Kilcoy’s mini Olympics
Kilcoy and surrounding aged care residents and locals with disabilities enjoyed a morning of fun on Friday, September 26, as Able Retreats hosted their annual mini Olympics at the Anglican Church Hall.
The event featured a variety of games, including Connect Four, bowling, and target toss, and concluded with a medal presentation.
Able Retreats owner Rochelle Loveridge said the event focuses on “fun and inclusion,” helping participants feel part of the community.
“It’s just good that all abilities can get together and everyone feels included,” she said. “Everyone can get to know different people from different parts of the community that you generally wouldn’t get to see or meet. As people, we like connection, so it is good that they can all get really connected with each other in a fun environment, somewhere they can be on their own and play a game, or work as a team. In the end, it’s about having fun.”
