Linville a Finalist in the Qld Top Tiny Tourism Town Awards
LINVILLE has been named a finalist in the Queensland Tourism Industry Council’s annual Top Tourism Town Awards that recognises the state’s diverse and outstanding destinations.
Somerset Regional Council nominated the town for the notable award.
Positioned along Australia’s longest recreational rail trail, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Linville is a tiny town full of big adventures.
Somerset Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Economic Development and Tourism Advisory Committee member, Cr Helen Brieschke, said there was so much to see and do in Linville.
“It’s not surprising that Linville has been named one of 10 finalists in its category for the whole of Queensland,” Cr Brieschke said.
“You can experience horseback riding, bushwalking, cycling and family fun along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, all a stone’s throw from the Linville township.
“You can also head into Linville and experience true country hospitality as you stroll down the main street and into the local store or make yourself at home at the Linville Pub, where you’ll experience country cuisine and a brew with a view.
“You can even sit back and sip on a signature Linville Lager or Linville Draught, and stay the night upstairs in the hotel’s comfortable accommodation.”
Somerset Economic Development and Tourism Advisory Committee member, Councillor Bob Whalley, said council was committed to playing its part in growing tourism in the region.
“Tourism promotion and development is a key area of focus under the Prosperous Somerset theme in Council’s corporate plan as well as the recently released tourism strategy,” Cr Whalley said.
“Council seeks to nurture and support a region celebrated for its prosperous rural lifestyle, agricultural strengths, natural assets and its potential as a premier regional visitor destination.
“Council works with several stakeholders to grow tourism in Somerset, particularly destinations including Linville.
“I encourage everyone in Somerset and anyone who has ever visited Linville to show their support for this town by placing their vote.”
With public voting now open and closing Monday 23 May, Somerset residents and holidaymakers are encouraged to vote for Linville by visiting: https://www.qtic.com.au/top-tourism-award/top-town-voting/.
