The Crisafulli Government has launched the $1.4 billion Electricity Maintenance Guarantee it says will ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable power for Queensland's future.
The Crisafulli Government has launched the $1.4 billion Electricity Maintenance Guarantee to ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable power for Queensland's future. This five-year guarantee will provide investment certainty for maintenance of power plants, boosting energy reliability and helping reduce costs for Queenslanders.
Government-owned energy companies will face strict key performance indicators (KPIs) on maintenance, safety, and plant performance. Executives will lose bonuses if these KPIs are not met. This new framework aims to avoid disasters like the Callide C explosion, which led to blackouts and significant electricity price hikes.
Treasurer David Janetzki stated the Guarantee will prioritize maintenance and hold energy executives accountable, ensuring Queensland’s power grid remains reliable and affordable for residents.
