Manhunt after violent car theft
POLICE continue to investigate after three people were assaulted and a vehicle stolen at Burpengary on Sunday, September 14.

At 5:45am, a woman arrived at a service station on the Bruce Highway, when she was approached by a man and a woman. The man assaulted the victim, demanding keys to her car; however, the woman was able to flee with her keys.
The pair then smashed the window of another parked car and assaulted the female passenger, demanding keys to that vehicle. When the victim did not have the keys, the pair approached a third vehicle, a Mitsubishi Outlander. The male driver was assaulted, and the pair fled in the Outlander, heading north on the Bruce Highway.
The man, believed to be a 35-year-old from Granville, is described as Caucasian, with short, dark, buzz-cut-style hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos on the left side of his face and along his left arm and hand. The woman, believed to be a 26-year-old from Maryborough, is described as Caucasian, with blonde hair with brown regrowth, dark eyes, and minor tattoos on both sides of her face near her eyes.
At 11:15am, police received information that the Outlander had crashed into trees near a property on Old Caloundra Road in Glenview, and that a man and woman were seen fleeing the area on foot. Officers declared an emergency under the Public Safety Preservation Act. Following an extensive search, the pair were not located, but a homemade firearm was found near the vehicle.
Petrie Criminal Investigation Branch Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Thomas Buckman, said there is no place for violent crimes in the community. “While we don’t want to cause alarm in the community, the actions of these two persons are of particular concern. We would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police,” he said.
The public are asked not to approach the man or woman and to call Triple Zero immediately. Investigators are appealing to the suspects to contact police and surrender themselves. Investigations are ongoing.
