Extension for TC Jasper primary producer grants
The deadline for primary producers impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper to apply for Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants has been extended to 30 June 2025.
The deadline for primary producers impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper to apply for Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants has been extended to 30 June 2025.
The grants, funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, were announced in December 2023 to assist with recovery efforts.
Eligible primary producers who suffered direct damage from the cyclone, rainfall, and flooding can apply for grants of up to $75,000 through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA). These funds can be used for recovery needs such as pasture rehabilitation, fodder, livestock replacement, and infrastructure repairs.
The grants are available to producers in the Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Cook, Douglas, Hinchinbrook, Mareeba, and Tablelands local government areas. Additional support measures include the Rural Landholder Recovery Grant Scheme, Disaster Assistance Loans, and freight subsidies.
Queensland Senator Nita Green said the extension recognises the ongoing difficulties faced by primary producers.
“Recovery from disasters is never easy, and primary producers face enormous challenges while continuing to feed our communities,” Senator Green said.
Queensland Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the government remains committed to supporting farmers.
