Moreton Bay women celebrate and connect in style

BUSINESS women got talking and shopping in a somewhat “out of the box” International Women’s Day event hosted by We Rise Networking Moreton Bay on March 8.

This was the first ever International Women’s Day event hosted by We Rise Networking Moreton Bay, which were established during the covid pandemic to keep business women connected.
This was the first ever International Women’s Day event hosted by We Rise Networking Moreton Bay, which were established during the covid pandemic to keep business women connected.

The “Connect and Style” event saw 40+ attendees treated to a VIP shopping and networking experience at The Casbah in Redcliffe.

Women enjoyed an extravagant spread of tasty food and drinks, raffles and free styling advice.

We Rise Networking Moreton Bay coordinator Ali Plunkett said “to share the evening and such a special day with 40 sensational and exceptional women last night of such calibre was just truly breathtaking.”

Ali said every single woman brought inspiring stories and hearts full of warmth.

“I loved the welcoming nature of all the women, and inclusivity, their strengths and individuality and what we all create as a community,” she said.

Ali thanked Tarsha Burke from the Casbah for providing a “welcoming, safe, vibrant and beautiful venue” and excellent hospitality.

She also thanked Karen Uhlmann for providing sustainable styling tips, Carolyn Rothwell for catering and set-up, Oleg for bartending, Alicia Grigorieff for decorating the venue and Sarah O’Neill for capturing the event.

From ticket sales, We Rise Networking Moreton Bay was also able to donate $170 to Share the Dignity, who distribute period products to women and girls who are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough.

“What an amazing International Women’s Day Event,” Ali said.

“And what an epic community we have.”

We Rise Networking was established to empower and encourage business women to continue to connect throughout the covid pandemic.

Since then, the group has evolved and grown to more than 1,300 members who now meet in person regularly to network and learn new skills and information from guest speakers at monthly forums.

Women in business from the Moreton Bay region are encouraged to join We Rise Networking, which can be found on Facebook.
