Moreton’s new TAFE takes shape
BRIGHT minds dreaming of a career in Moreton Bay’s billion-dollar manufacturing industry are a step closer to realising their dreams after land was secured for a $60 million TAFE Centre of Excellence.

The site, at Moreton Bay Central in Petrie, will give students the ability to train and work locally while building a career in construction, engineering, electrotechnology or advanced manufacturing.
The land will be transferred from City of Moreton Bay to the Queensland Government.
The TAFE Centre of Excellence will also include an Advanced Manufacturing Hub, supporting Moreton Bay’s billion-dollar manufacturing industry and creating new opportunities for Queenslanders to thrive in high-tech, high-demand sectors.
Using the latest technology, including augmented reality and smart hubs, students will train in state-of-the-art trade workshops and modern learning spaces to graduate job-ready.
Its location – adjacent to the future Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre, a key venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games – positions it as a strategic investment in the region’s long-term growth.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, said the centre will deliver world-class training in industries that drive the economy and create good jobs for Queenslanders.
“While we are delivering the new TAFE Centre of Excellence, there is much more to be done to deliver for Queensland’s future, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised,” he said.
Member for Glass House Andrew Powell said the new TAFE centre would create an important legacy.
“This new centre is not just an investment in skills, it’s an investment in the future of our region,” he said.
Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said she was proud to see this investment delivered for the community.
“The Centre of Excellence will be a game-changer for Moreton Bay and Pumicestone, creating opportunities for local talent and strengthening our region’s reputation as a hub of innovation and growth,” she said.
Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the centre would create valuable educational opportunities close to home for many residents.
“Council is proud to be offering the land required to support this new TAFE, which will provide education and jobs in our rapidly growing City,” he said.
“We know locals want to study and work closer to home and the TAFE will be located at the Moreton Bay Central site near UniSC’s Moreton Bay campus, which is in close proximity to public transport and industry and offers opportunities for collaboration between the TAFE and university.
“This new TAFE will upskill our workforce to meet the needs of local businesses, including in our booming manufacturing industry, and provide jobs in the future.”
