Nominations now open for Australia Day awards
NOMINATIONS are now open for City of Moreton Bay’s 2026 Australia Day Awards, which shine a light on the individuals who help shape our community.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the awards provide a valuable opportunity to highlight the incredible contributions being made by local individuals.
“The Australia Day Awards are one of the most rewarding events on our local calendar. They allow us to acknowledge those quiet achievers whose dedication and service have made City of Moreton Bay an even greater place to live, work and visit,” Mayor Flannery said.
“There are two categories open for nomination: Citizen of the Year and the Mayor’s Community Spirit Award.
“If you know someone who has gone above and beyond this year, or who has devoted many years of service to our community, now is the time to recognise their efforts.
“Anyone can nominate. Don’t miss the chance to give our local legends the recognition they deserve.”
Rob Hopkinson, Citizen of the Year 2025, was recognised for the positive impact his program ‘Run with Rob’ has had across the City of Moreton Bay community.
He understands firsthand the significance of these awards.
“Receiving this award was truly humbling. I don’t usually seek recognition, so it was very special to be acknowledged for something I simply love doing; helping people achieve their goals, supporting charities, and building lasting friendships,” he said.
Nominations are open from 1 September and close 31 October 2025.
