Nominations are now open for the prestigious 2025 Queensland Greats Awards, which recognise individuals and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to the state.
The awards aim to honour those whose work has shaped Queensland’s growth across various fields, including business, science, health, education, sport, the arts, Indigenous affairs, conservation, and philanthropy.
Since their inception in 2001, the Queensland Greats Awards have celebrated 122 individuals, 1 honorary recipient, 20 institutions, and 11 posthumous awards. These recipients have been recognised for their outstanding achievements and their lasting impact on the Queensland community.
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie highlighted the importance of the awards, saying they provide a valuable opportunity to recognise those who have made a significant difference to Queensland.
“From world-renowned scientists to dedicated business owners and athletes, these awards acknowledge the remarkable people who help shape our state’s future,” he said.
Past recipients Bruce and Denise Morcombe, recognised in 2020 for their ongoing efforts in child safety, spoke of their pride in receiving the honour. “The Queensland Greats Awards shine a light on those whose efforts improve the lives of Queenslanders,” the Morcombes said.
Nominations for the Queensland Greats Awards are open in three categories: individual, institution, and posthumous. The recipients will be announced on Queensland Day 2025.
