Plainland school’s new facilities shine
SOPHIA College in Plainland has launched advanced facilities as part of its Stage 3 construction, reinforcing its dedication to holistic education and community growth.

The expansion includes a multi-purpose tiered science room and an additional laboratory, adding to the three labs built in 2023. These new spaces allow for diverse teaching methods in science and hands-on learning.
The College’s six-room innovation hub is designed for flexibility, serving as one large area or individual classrooms focused on Design, Aerospace, Digital Technology, Furnishings, and Engineering.
Equipped with traditional tools and future-focused manufacturing technologies such as computer-controlled cutters and 3D printers, the hub encourages creativity and problem-solving for real-world challenges.
At the completion of Stage 2, Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz, highlighted the impact of modern facilities on student success and equal access to quality education.
Principal Narelle Dobson noted that these developments support the school’s growing population and commitment to engaging students in science, technology, and ecology.
Rooted in Franciscan values and inspired by “Laudato Si,” Sophia College fosters a community built on respect for nature, each other, and a sense of spiritual connection.
The ongoing development of its campus demonstrates the College’s commitment to excellence in education and community engagement.
