Planning fire safety
A proposal for Major Planning Scheme Amendment No.4 – Morayfield South Emerging Community Area and Designated Bushfire Prone Areas is open for community engagement from October 13 to November 7.

The amendment aims to increase bushfire resilience by applying building standards within Bushfire Prone Areas across the City and support future growth in Morayfield South through a Draft Morayfield South Structure Plan, identifying land uses and infrastructure locations.
City of Moreton Bay continues to manage bushfire exposure and improve local resilience by applying building standards in Bushfire Prone Areas via planning scheme amendments. Residents are invited to provide feedback on the amendment to enhance bushfire safety and clarify planning outcomes for Morayfield South.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the amendment changes building requirements so all new builds affected by bushfire hazard mapping must meet the National Construction Code, improving safety for all residents.
The amendment also introduces a draft structure plan for Morayfield South, supporting the development of a well-planned community. The area is the City’s second-largest growth front after Waraba and is expected to provide 9,800 new homes for 26,000 people over coming years. The draft structure plan outlines infrastructure and features to support growth, including environmental corridors, roads and upgrades, locations for future state schools, community facilities, neighbourhood hubs, parks, and recreation areas.
Councillor Tony Latter (Division 12) encouraged residents to provide feedback during the consultation period to help shape the final plan.
Feedback can be submitted at https://yoursay.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/major-planning-scheme-amendment-4. The amendment is also available for viewing at customer service centres in Caboolture, Redcliffe, Strathpine, and Burpengary, as well as Caboolture libraries.
