Play-itt rocks for a pink cause raises $2,500 for research
THE Woodford Bowls Club turned pink this October as members rallied together to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, hosting a colourful night of music, laughter, and community spirit.

The open-mic night ‘Play-itt’ event on October 23 saw locals decked out in every shade of pink, with standout attendee Russell, in his curly pink wig and bright shorts, earning unofficial recognition as the night’s best-dressed.
In total, the club raised $2,500 — with donations still coming in — showing once again the strong community heart behind the club’s social gatherings.
The evening featured vibrant live music from band members Peter, Mike, Al and Norm, alongside performances from local favourites including Fay, Jenny, Carmel, Lindsay, Marlene, and Jordy.
A lineup of classic hits, from ‘Heartaches by the Number’ to ‘Eagle Rock’, kept the crowd entertained into the night.
Organisers thanked everyone who contributed to the event and the ongoing fight against breast cancer, saying the strong turnout and enthusiasm were a testament to the Woodford community’s generosity and spirit.
The fun continues this week, with the Play-itt hosting its Halloween celebration on October 30, followed by local band No Alibi taking the stage on November 7.
