Pool season kicks off across Moreton Bay
Families across Burpengary, Caboolture, Woodford, and Bribie are enjoying children’s activities at local aquatic centres, which have become increasingly popular.

The Burpengary Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Caboolture Pool and Fitness Centre, Woodford Swimming Pool, and Bribie Island Aquatic Leisure Centre attract thousands of visitors eager to swim, play, and get active.
Recent data shows 1,578,474 visits to Moreton Bay’s aquatic and leisure centres last financial year, an 11.28 per cent increase over two years. Patronage is expected to rise further as 240 new residents move to the area each week.
Mayor Peter Flannery highlighted the accessibility and variety of the facilities, which feature heated pools, Olympic-sized lap lanes, water slides, shallow play areas for toddlers, aqua aerobics classes, and learn-to-swim sessions. “Swimming is not only beneficial for physical and mental wellbeing, but also a vital skill for staying safe around water,” he said.
Council’s pool season officially began on September 1, with extended opening hours running until April 30. Learn-to-swim programs and shallow splash zones remain particularly popular among younger swimmers.
