According to a QPS spokesperson, initial reports suggest that around 8am, machinery on a property on Rohlmanns Road was shot with a single projectile. The front and rear windows of the machinery were damaged, but no one was physically injured during the incident.

A public statement made by the wife of the machine operator described the incident as a “nearly unbelievable” event. She stated that her husband, while operating a dozer on private property, had exited the machine to check his direction. As he was about 2 meters away from it, he heard a whistling noise pass by his ear. The noise, it turned out, was a bullet, which narrowly missed his head before hitting the machinery.

The wife further mentioned that police believed it was "probably a ricochet," although QPS neither confirmed nor denied this. She also claimed that police indicated "the farmers around the area have a big problem with poachers," and urged farmers and residents to be on the lookout for strange cars in the area, advising them to take photos, including of any number plates if possible.

QPS has not confirmed or denied the alleged statement regarding poachers.

Investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact police via Policelink using the online suspicious activity form at www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting or by calling 131 444. Crime information can also be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.
