Powell wants more road improvements
ROAD resurfacing, merging lanes, overtaking lanes, traffic lights and safer intersections are on Member for Glass House Andrew Powell’s mind as he vows to fight for improvements to roads in the Moreton region.
Mr Powell said he was at a complete loss as to why resurfacing had not occurred between the Bruce Highway and Beerburrum Road.
“Everyone knows it’s now the worst section of road surface,” he said.
Mr Powell said that recent funding resulted in significant improvements on the D’Aguilar Highway with the construction of two new eastbound overtaking lanes east of Woodford and west of Wamuran, as well as road widening and the installation of the one-metre centre line separation.
The Member for Glass House nonetheless insisted that plenty more needed to be done.
“For example, I will continue to fight for a true merging lane at King Street, Moodlu,” he said.
“I will continue to fight for traffic lights at Campbells Pocket Road.
“I will continue to fight for more overtaking lanes and safer intersections.”
Mr Powell said that as Caboolture West progresses, the West Moreton Arterial Corridor needed to be built. He specified that this was a state road that would connect the D’Aguilar Highway with Bellmere Road, Caboolture River Road and potentially link up with Dayboro Road.
“This corridor will improve traffic movement from communities like Woodford and Wamuran and provide an alternative to the Bruce Highway,” Mr Powell said.
“I understand the Government will shortly begin community consultation on this important project.”
