Public transport services across South East Queensland will be expanded for New Year’s Eve celebrations, with additional trains, buses, trams, and ferries to help accommodate large crowds attending events in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast.
The Crisafulli Government has planned extra services to ensure residents and visitors can travel to and from key locations safely. From 8pm on New Year’s Eve until 5:30am on New Year’s Day, public transport will be free, following a 50-cent fare period before 8pm.
Additional train services will be available after both the family fireworks and the midnight fireworks, with trains running every 15 to 20 minutes on most lines. Additional bus services will operate between South Bank, South Brisbane, and the city. G:link tram services will run as usual, with additional services throughout the night, and a modified ferry timetable will accommodate firework displays and demand.
Travellers are encouraged to plan their trips in advance by visiting the Translink website or using the Translink app to ensure smooth travel.
