Queensland Ambulance Service Expands Clinical Hub

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Clinical Hub is undergoing an $8.31 million expansion to improve emergency response and patient care across the state.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Clinical Hub is undergoing an $8.31 million expansion to improve emergency response and patient care across the state.

Construction has begun on the new facility at the Emergency Services Centre in Kedron, with BADGE awarded the contract. The expansion will increase the hub’s capacity to provide critical advice and support to those dialling Triple Zero (000).

The Clinical Hub operates 24/7 with a team of senior paramedics, specialist doctors, registered nurses, mental health and social workers, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. These professionals assess emergency calls and direct patients to the most appropriate care, ensuring ambulances and emergency departments remain available for those in urgent need.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said the upgrade was part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to improving Queensland’s health system.

“The expanded QAS Clinical Hub will ensure more patients are linked to the most appropriate care, freeing up frontline paramedics and reducing pressure on hospitals,” Mr Nicholls said.

QAS Assistant Commissioner Alex Thompson said the hub already handles up to 1,700 patient interactions daily.

“Not everyone calling Triple Zero (000) needs an ambulance response, and this expansion will allow us to connect even more patients with the right care,” Mr Thompson said.
