Racing sector review delivered
THE independent Racing Review has been delivered to the Queensland Government, marking the most extensive assessment of the state’s racing sector in more than 25 years.

Covering thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing, the review was launched in March by the Crisafulli Government to secure a sustainable future for the industry while prioritising integrity and animal welfare.
The findings were handed to the Government on September 30 and are now under consideration. The Government’s official response is expected later this month.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the review offers a clear roadmap to help the industry grow and remain sustainable. “I look forward to updating industry and releasing the review, which will outline steps to ensure racing thrives across Queensland,” Minister Mander said. He encouraged all racing stakeholders and interested community members to engage with the findings and thanked the independent chair and steering committee for their efforts.
Queensland’s racing industry currently contributes around $2.5 billion annually and supports approximately 14,500 full-time jobs, with more than half of the economic benefits flowing to regional communities.
