Recruitment underway for new boss of Queensland’s construction industry watchdog
The Crisafulli Government is seeking a new Commissioner to lead the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).
This follows the impending expiry of current Commissioner Anissa Levy's three-year term in February, with her agreement to stay on during the transition.
A recruitment panel, including Public Sector Commissioner David Mackie and Department of Housing and Public Works Director-General Mark Cridland, will oversee the process.
Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O’Connor emphasized the new Commissioner’s role in implementing the Productivity Commission’s recommendations. O’Connor stressed the government’s commitment to improving the state’s construction regulatory environment to reduce costs and delays in building projects.
The government is also focused on increasing homeownership and streamlining QBCC processes to support tradies, construction companies, and Queenslanders in need of assistance.
