A competitive tender will open in the coming months to select a construction partner to deliver the improved and redesigned expansion, which will provide more beds for the hospital. Health Infrastructure Queensland is returning to market through this competitive retendering process to secure a construction partner for the project. The agency is also engaging directly with key stakeholders, including local clinicians and the architectural design team, to ensure the expansion meets the healthcare needs of the Moreton Bay community.

Key features of the Hospital Rescue Plan for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion include:

  • At least 210 new overnight beds

  • Expanded services, including maternity, endoscopy, and operating theatres

  • A design focused on safety for nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers

  • Optimised site use to enhance service delivery

  • Additional car parking

The procurement process is also progressing to deliver three new levels of parking at the existing multi-storey car park, with the tender officially closing last week.

Acting Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Dale Last, said the improved and redesigned expansion addresses major project flaws in the previous plan. “Going back to market will ensure we invest taxpayers’ money responsibly and build the health services the Redcliffe community needs now and into the future,” he said. “This work is all part of our $18.5 billion Hospital Rescue Plan to build and expand hospitals and health facilities across the State.”

Member for Redcliffe, Kerri-Anne Dooley, said the expansion is about supporting the community as it grows. “As a former nurse at this very hospital, I’m determined to make the hospital experience better for everyone,” Ms Dooley said. “Ensuring adequate parking for patients, visitors and staff will be a huge benefit, alongside the 210 new overnight beds and other significant improvements.”
