Region escapes serious storm damage
Despite fears of significant damage from the recent days of storm activity, the Moreton Bay and Somerset region recorded minimal calls for assistance.
Trevor Smith, Assistant SES Controller for Moreton Bay region, said there were a total of 21 calls for assistance from Thursday's storm activities, with just one request for help from the area between Caboolture and Wamuran.
"Redcliffe bore the front of the request for assistance with 10 calls," Mr Smith said.
"These were a mix of leaky roofs and minor flooding."
Mr Smith said a number of the calls could have been avoided, if residents had undertaken storm preparation activities.
"These could have been avoided by taking a proactive approach and being Storm Ready by cleaning out gutters, unblocking drains and other maintenance issues."
