Reward for Able Retreats at Enablement Awards
Able Retreats took out an innovative provider award at this year’s Enablement Awards, held at Wavell Heights last Friday afternoon.
Able Retreats, which provides support for individuals on the NDIS in the Somerset, Moreton and Sunshine Coast regions, was named The Most Innovative Care Provider in the NDIS/Disability Sector in Australia in 2023.
The award category within which the adjudication was made was Disability Services.
The Enablement Awards were created to celebrate and reward excellence, innovation and exemplary achievements in the disability care sector in Australasia, with the awards recognising the rapid growth of this sector in the region and the capacity of individuals to influence and set new performance standards.
Able Retreats founder Rochelle Loveridge attended last Friday’s awards presentation along with colleagues Pauline Trudgett, Ross Trudgett, Jan Colman and Marieke McArthur.
Snacks and drinks were offered at the awards presentation, before the Able Retreats quintet had a celebratory dinner at the Kilcoy-based Stanley Hotel.
Having opened its doors at the Sunshine Coast in December 2020 before opening its Kilcoy branch in February 2022, Able Retreats had not been nominated for any award until this year.
All winners at the Enablement Awards had to operate in Australasia from August last year to July this year, with the judge rating them as the best exemplar in the subset of their sector during this time-frame.
The judge was the editor of the Disability Update and had been involved in the sector for more than 30 years.
Rochelle said the Able Retreats staff were all humbled to be acknowledged for the work they put in for the organisation and the community it services.
“Every one of Able Retreats’ team members gives their all to ensure clients’ needs are all supported with compassion and kindness, and our day centre values inclusiveness and equality,” she said.
“We are grateful for the community support we have received since opening our day centre in Kilcoy and will continue to offer our service and increase our offering which includes opening a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home.”
The award winners including Able Retreats also became eligible for the global award which will be held in London during November.
