Searching for a forever home
THE ‘Great Australian Dream’ has soured into an ongoing nightmare for Steve Mayers, as he desperately searches for a new rental property around Burpengary or Morayfield.

“We are living in a tent, at my sister’s house, because there is nothing else available to us, no matter how hard I search,” Mr Mayers said.
Until Easter this year, Mr Mayers and his teenage children were living in a rented Burpengary property, when the owners advised they would be needing to take over the house, as they had sold their previous home.
“We had a good report from the rental agency, but we just had no joy finding a new property," Mr Mayers said.
“I have a full-time job, I work afternoons and evenings, and we have now got an application with the Housing Commission, but I am worried I might be earning too much, we will see how that goes.”
