Singing for more shelter
THE much-loved Gemlife Urban Country Music Festival is back this year, returning to the Caboolture Showgrounds on Saturday, October 4. The event promises a full day of music, entertainment, and a powerful message: music can change lives.
This year, the festival proudly supports 121 Networks Ltd, a grassroots charity addressing hidden homelessness among older Australians. All funds raised will go directly toward creating safe, secure housing for vulnerable people in the region.
The impact is already being felt. Christine, aged 72, is now living safely thanks to 121 Networks. Francis, a Justice of the Peace, went from sleeping in his car to rebuilding his life. Adrian, who faced eviction while managing serious health issues, now has a place to call home.
The festival kicks off at 7am with a Big Breakfast, followed by entertainment for all ages. Event Manager Eric Whitehouse says the 2025 lineup is fun, affordable, and family-friendly, combining proven acts with bold new ideas. Highlights include Caboolture’s first-ever Long Table Dining experience and a First Nations Showcase featuring Loren Ryan.
The music program features an afternoon show with Beccy Cole, Jake Whittaker, and Sue Ray, followed by a night program with Travis Collins, Adam Eckersley, Brooke McClymont, Vixens of Fall, Chloe Marks & the Mayhem, and 78 Sound. The party continues with the Urbanities After Party, featuring a live DJ until midnight.
Beyond music, the festival offers attractions for all ages, including a Beaut Ute & 4WD Muster, Camp Oven Cook-Off competition, and a Kids Zone with a petting zoo and face painting. Chill-out spaces such as The Rest and the Birds Nest Cocktail Bar provide a relaxing retreat.
The Stardust Talent Quest will award over $20,000 in prizes to emerging talent from across the region, sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Tickets are affordably priced, with adult day tickets from $39.95, each including two free child passes. This means a family of two adults and four children can attend the day event for under $80. All proceeds support housing for more than 100 vulnerable women and men aged 55 and over.
By attending, festival-goers enjoy a great day while helping create real, lasting change for people in need. Tickets are on sale now at urbancountrymusicfestival.com.au.
This year, the Gemlife Urban Country Music Festival celebrates community, compassion, and the power of music to heal, house, and bring hope.
