Snakes U13s unbeaten in Cairns
The Caboolture Snakes U13s had a thoroughly successful time in Cairns recently as they won all five of their matches in the Nate Myles Cup.
Eighty-eight games were played as 34 teams came from southern, central and northern Queensland for the annual carnival named after a State of Origin stalwart who played 32 matches for the Maroons from 2006 to 2017.
Caboolture was one of three teams from the Sunshine Coast region to take part, with the others being Caloundra and Coolum.
The Snakes began with a 24-8 win over the Moranbah Miners before winning 20-0 against the Tully Tigers, 20-8 against the Edmonton Storm, 24-0 against the North Thuringowa Devils, and 24-0 against the Malanda Eels.
With the 34 teams split into four pools, Caboolture was one of six teams to have a perfect record of five wins in the round- robin part of the carnival.
Unfortunately for the Snakes they missed a finals berth as the top-placed team in each pool qualified for the finals.
Having tallied 112 points and conceded 16 in 100 minutes of football, the Snakes finished fourth overall on for-and- against but were eliminated due to Souths finishing above them in Pool 2, with for-and-against figures of 104-4.
