Somerset Bridge lessons coming soon

The Somerset Bridge Club has a range of exciting events coming up, including Christmas in July and bridge lessons for new players starting in August. Club president Eric Von Nida said the club has been slowly growing since it began last year, with the lessons helping to boost membership numbers.

“We’re getting some new people at the club which is good, we are regularly filling three to four tables now every week,” he said. Each table is made up of four players, and the previous lessons brought in four new members who are now continuing to learn as they play. “It’s a hard game but they are getting the hang of it.”

The club has been offering several special beginner bridge classes, with the next course scheduled to start on Monday, August 4 at 10:30am. The lessons will run for eight weeks and cost participants $25 for the course materials. Eric explained the goal is for those taking the lessons to transition into playing with the club every Monday from 1:15pm at the Toogoolawah Golf Club. To book, interested players can call Suzi Leahy on 0407 570 031.

Later this month, the Somerset Bridge Club will welcome members from the Lockyer Valley Bridge Club to Toogoolawah for a Christmas in July celebration.
