Spook-tacular fun creeps back to Somerset park
SOMERSET’S most frightful family event is back, with the return of Spooky Somerset this Halloween at Clock Park.
From 3pm on Friday, 31 October, the park will transform into a haven for little monsters, wicked witches, and eerie skeletons, as the community gathers for Somerset Regional Council’s free Halloween celebration.
Mayor Jason Wendt said the evening promised plenty of fun for all ages.
“We’ll have free activities including a photo booth, music, llamas, face painting, and information stalls with craft activities and giveaways,” Cr Wendt said.
“The barbecue kicks off at 5pm along with the ‘Bat Walk’, with prizes for the best and spookiest costumes.”
When the sun sets, families can settle in for an open-air movie screening of Frankenweenie (PG) at 6.30pm, projected on the big screen under the stars. Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair or picnic blanket to enjoy the film in comfort.
Last year’s Spooky Somerset drew more than 300 attendees, with zombies, witches, vampires, and ghosts filling Clock Park for an afternoon of community fun.
“It was fantastic to see the community coming along to Spooky Somerset and so many children and their parents getting in costume for the afternoon,” Cr Wendt said.
“We certainly had more teenagers attending this event than other Council activities, and it’s wonderful to see that we are engaging more with our young people.”
With free entertainment, food, crafts, and a touch of Halloween magic, Spooky Somerset is shaping up to be a highlight on the region’s community calendar.
