Station Master tops the ‘Coolabunia Classic'
THE 11th Annual Coolabunia Classic Charolais Bull sale, held at Coolabunia on August 17 was conducted by selling agents Aussie Land and Livestock, Kingaroy.
The sale cleared 47 of the 50 bulls offered for a 94% clearance and an average of $8,174.
Dry weather and declining cattle markets were reflected in this year’s average price which was well down on the $11,000 average attained at this sale over the past two years.
The strength of the day was the return buyers purchasing bulls from vendors who have provided them with the genetics that have worked well for them in the past.
A number of new buyers were welcomed as well.
Bulls sold through the Brisbane Valley, Woodford, Kilcoy, Biloela, Gin Gin, Eidsvold, Clifton, Kilkivan, North and South Burnett and the local areas.
Lot 5 Charnelle Station Master (PP) (FF) sold to Mark Noller, Top Camp Cattle Co, Clifton for $19,000.
Station Master is a full French Homozygous Polled bull with a weight of 810kgs at 20 months, EMA 135, fat 7/3, IMF% 3.8 and was by the polled full French sire Johnny, whose semen was imported by Charnelle Charolais Stud in 2018.
Lot 20 Silverwood Sapper (PP) sold to MT and RM Welch Dangore for $14,000.
A 910kg bull at 25 months, EMA 142, fat 9/5, IMF% 7.0.
Sapper is a homozygous polled Charnelle President son.
Lot 12 Charnelle Tim Tam (P) (R/F) sold to Troy Hennessey Woodford for $12,000.
Tim Tam was a standout red factor Charolais bull with a weight of 755kg at 18 months, EMA 128, fat 13/8, IMF% 6.1.
Lot 27 River Run Scooter (P) sold to BJ and AA Roughan for $11,000. A 860kg bull at 25 months, EMA 142, fat 13/7, IMF% 6.1.
Scooter is a Raile Sovereign son and was part of the River Run show team.
Lot 52 Silverwood Sterling (PP) also made $11,000 when he was knocked down to Danny and Margaret Hoogstraten, Goomeri.
Sterling is a homozygous polled son of Charnelle President weighing 800kg at 24 months and scans of 135 EMA and 13/8 fat, and 5.2 in the IMF.
Volume buyer for the sale was B and T Day, Mudloo Pastoral, Kilkivan who secured three bulls for a $8,666 average including River Run Senator for $10,000.
Topping the vendor’s averages was River Run Charolais selling all 11 bulls offered for a solid $9,090 average.
Other vendors’ averages include Silverwood Charolais selling 11 bulls to average $7,727, Black Duck Charolais selling four bulls to average $7,250, Charnelle Charolais selling 16 bulls to average $7,281 and Diamond L Charolais selling four young bulls to average $5,250.
