Hosted by Brisbane Valley Heritage Trails, the Expo will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 9am to 3pm at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk.
The event will bring together 27 historical groups from across South East Queensland — stretching from the Bunya Mountains to Rosewood — to showcase the stories, collections, and culture that shaped the Brisbane River Valley.
Visitors can explore displays, meet passionate local historians, and enjoy a series of engaging keynote presentations highlighting the area’s unique past.
Some speakers will include Queensland Rail and Queensland Museum, QCWA Glamorgan Vale, Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association, and Bunya Mountains Natural History Museum.
Participating groups include the Kilcoy District Historical Society, Toogoolawah & District History Group, Rosewood Scrub Historical Society, Wondi Museum, Friends of Stonehouse, and the Queensland Museum, among others.
The Expo forms part of a growing regional Heritage Trail initiative, aimed at preserving and promoting Queensland’s country history through collaboration between local museums and history associations.
The ‘Somerset Stories’ website will also be launched during the expo, sharing the history of local communities and families.
The event promises a fascinating day out for families, travellers, and anyone with an interest in local heritage.
Entry is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
