A&M Civil Contracting began construction of the new Station Street Carpark in Lowood, the first major piece of construction work for the Lowood Futures Strategy project.

Lowood Futures Strategy Advisory Committee member, Somerset Deputy Mayor Helen Brieschke, said the carpark would include 36 new parking spaces.

“We’re excited to see the Lowood Futures Strategy taking its first step towards reality with the construction of this new carpark, just one of the many elements proposed in the master plan,” Cr Brieschke said.

“This new carpark will give Lowood workers, residents and visitors a more convenient place to park, with a new walkway to connect the carpark to Railway Street.”

This project is funded through the South East Queensland Liveability Fund by the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Somerset Regional Council and forms part of the SEQ City Deal.

Carpark works are expected to be completed by December 2025, weather permitting.
